Pocono Parent Magazine Shut Down?

March 16, 2010 by Andrea Kimes 3 Comments

As I was talking with someone last week about various Pocono expos that go on throughout the year and they had mentioned the Pocono Parent Magazine Expo.  Pocono Parent Magazine is/was a local magazine dedicated to articles about families and children in the Poconos – it was a free subscription and provided some great information.  I realized I haven’t received a copy in at least a few months and was wondering maybe if they had shut down by chance.

One of our Pocono Talk readers just emailed me asking if they were still around – so I did a little research and although I can’t find anything saying that they are specifically not in production anymore their website goes to a 404 page(not found) – that combined with not receiving it for a few months makes me assume they’ve shut down.  I knew they were working on other kids programs as well, I thought through Pocono Kids Cultural Connection but that website as well goes to a 404(not found).  Sometimes if your website hosting is not paid on time your website will be down for a short period of time and you’ll see that error – but being that it is the middle of the month and that normally happens around the beginning of the month I have to assume that the magazine is no longer.

It was a great publication and resource for many, I hope they’re still around in some facet – if you have any info be sure to let me know so I can update our readers.

    Hi,
I am pretty sure that Pocono Kids cultural connection is under new ownership. My daughter, Lola has been taking music class there on Tuesdays and we love it! The teacher Miss Berrentine makes class so exciting that she just can’t wait to go. You can tell she has a love for children. I highly recommend it there. I am not too sure why there website is down, but I was able to get info. by phone at 619-7655.

    Hello,
I am with the United Way and am looking for Teri O’Brien.
Can you tell me is she still with Pocono Parent Magazine or did the magazine dissolve completely.

    Thanks

From people’s past comments and information as far as I know the magazine has closed for good. Doing a quick search I believe this is the same Teri (don’t quote me on that though) but it looks like she moved out of the area.

    “June 13, 2010

Thirteen women crowded around a table in Shawnee Inn’s River Room to talk business.

They are dedicated members of the Women Business Owners Association, a relatively young sorority that meets monthly despite numbers that have dwindled to 30 because of businesses that didn’t make it and members who moved away, including founder and past president Teri O’Brien who relocated out of the area last fall.”

It looks like there is a “NJShore Parent” magazine run by Teri O’Brien(judging by the fact that magazine/website looks almost identical to Pocono Parent I assume it’s one in the same):

I would assume you could contact her here:
