Camelback Resort to Donate Passes to Disadvantaged Youth

January 25, 2022 by Pocono Talk Leave a Comment

TANNERSVILLE, Penn. – In a comprehensive effort to introduce youth from a variety of socio-economic, racial and ethnic backgrounds to the wonders of winter sports while promoting healthy lifestyles, Camelback Cares, a new initiative created, organized and implemented by Camelback Resort, and Winter4Kids, a New Jersey-based organization focused on teaching children positive life skills while nurturing a passion for the outdoors, announced today an ongoing partnership focused on transforming the lives of kids from underserved communities.

Winter4Kids helps kids develop better attitudes about self, health, opportunity, mastery and an affinity for the outdoors through winter and summer activities. Through partnerships with schools and youth serving agencies, Winter4Kids provides children with a multi-session, multi-year program of experiential learning, healthy meals, equipment, clothing and mentoring. Since its inception in 2015, more than 10,000 children have participated in this life-transforming initiative.

Through the new partnership, all children who have graduated from Winter4Kids will receive three seasons of complimentary passes to the Camelback Resort, as well as other opportunities and family activities supported by both Winter4Kids and Camelback Cares while at the resort, according to Tim Bayer, vice president of facilities.

Recently cited as one of the “Best Ski Resorts in the U.S. and Canada” in Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards, Camelback Resort is a 560-acre resort nestled in the Pocono Mountains.

“We are keenly focused on making winter sports welcoming, accessible and inclusive and are thrilled to offer youngsters this unique opportunity to enjoy the exhilaration and physical benefits of outdoor winter activities,” said Bayer. “Through this partnership, our goal is to help broaden engagement with skiing and snowboarding – helping all kids develop a lifelong love of winter sports by providing easier sustainable access to the slopes.”

Winter4Kids CEO and President Schone Malliet added, “With a culture and environment that is welcoming, embracing, empathetic and belonging, this partnership with Camelback Resort uniquely furthers the sustainable journey we steer from first time to lifetime enthusiast, while bridging the gaps of economics, access and availability for kids.”

Camelback Cares was created during the pandemic to recognize, show appreciation for, aid and boost the spirits of valued people on the frontline and its own employees during a dangerous and stressful time and has evolved into giving back to the community.

Winter4Kids, located on the campus of the National Winter Activity Center in Vernon, New Jersey, provides healthy meals, equipment, mentoring and progressive learning, using winter and summer activities as a means to change and improve the lives of children who traditionally don’t have access to these types of activities. Winter4Kids acquired the dormant facility in 2015 and repurposed and reengineered it as a “sacred” space for kids with opportunities for Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and snowboarding.
