Spring equals snow in the Poconos

March 21, 2011 by Pocono Talk Leave a Comment

Did you get fooled?  Last week it we had a few 50-60 degree days and almost 70 degrees one day.  We opened up all of our windows, started some spring cleaning and started thinking about all of the fun things we’ll get to do now that the warm weather is upon us.

In typical Pocono fashion it was an early April fools joke – Punxsutawney Phil said that spring is coming, we had some nice warm weather…it must be spring right?  We had paid our dues to get spring here – the past 2 weeks had been a mess with flooding due to all of the melting snow, we could finally see the ground and things were beginning to thaw.

Well this morning we woke up to a good 4 inches of snow covering everything!  Early this morning all schools were delayed but then all Pocono schools closed due to the bad road conditions.

I say it every year, just when you start getting ‘comfortable’ with the thought of spring coming in the Poconos you have to hold your breath for mother nature to get a few extra shots of snow in before spring officially arrives.

Here’s to hoping we see spring soon enough – I love the snow as much as I love the warm weather, I could care less which way it goes for now, but just stay that way!  The tease of spring followed by a snowstorm is typical in the Poconos, but it never fails to catch me at least a little bit off guard.
