Mary Chapin Carpenter to Perform in Scranton for PEEC

June 5, 2017 by Pocono Talk Leave a Comment

HAWLEY, PA –  June 1st, 2017 – This coming fall, Harmony Presents is proud to produce Mary Chapin Carpenter at Lackawanna College Theater as a benefit concert for PEEC (Pocono Environmental Education Center). Tickets are on sale now. “We’re very excited to showcase this five-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter and Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee. We couldn’t be happier to work with PEEC in producing this exciting event and fundraiser for them. Mary Chapin Carpenter will be performing songs from her expansive 14-album catalog and new songs from her latest record The Things That We Are Made Of, which was released May 6, 2016,” says Jill Carletti, Managing Director of Harmony Presents.

For seven years, Harmony Presents has primarily showcased smaller, nationally touring artists in the boiler room of the Hawley Silk Mill. “Since the beginning, Harmony Presents was never a venue, but rather a producer of shows and cultural events,” says Carletti. She continues, “Our concerts have primarily taken place in the Hawley Silk Mill, but we’ve brought talented artists to other locations too.  We’re thrilled to expand the list of locations where we’ve produced concerts to include the Lackawanna College Theater. We’re also so proud to have put-on over 500 events in Hawley, PA and attracted nearly 15,000 individuals to the local community. Now, due to changes within the Hawley Silk Mill, Harmony Presents will complete its schedule of performances there with two final dates, including the Ballroom Thieves on June 24th and The Gold Magnolias on July 21st,” says Carletti. She continues, “The change opens doors and allows us to produce this larger event featuring iconic and beloved Mary Chapin Carpenter. We’re not stopping there either. There’s a lot we’re cooking up for the future in our hometown of Hawley, PA and beyond. Bringing Mary Chapin Carpenter to northeast PA for a worthy, charitable organization such as PEEC is part of how we continue to expand.”

The Mary Chapin Carpenter benefit concert for Pocono Environmental Education Center takes place at 7:30 pm with doors opening at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, Oct 24th 2017. Tickets are $50, $60 and $70 and are available online at www.harmonypresents.com or www.peec.org or by calling (570) 588-8077. The Lackawanna College Theater is located at 501 Vine Street in Scranton, PA.

Carpenter has recorded 14 albums and sold over 14 million records. Previously, in 2014, Carpenter released her debut orchestral album, Songs From The Movie, which was arranged and co-produced by six-time Grammy winner Vince Mendoza. Since it’s release, Carpenter has performed alongside the New York Philharmonic, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the London Concert Orchestra, the L.A. Philharmonic and the National Symphony Orchestra among many others.
