Hawley Harvest Hoedown Bluegrass & Folk Concert 2018 Features All-Star Line-Up

September 28, 2018 by Pocono Talk Leave a Comment

On Saturday, October 13th at 7:30pm, the fifth annual Hawley Harvest Hoedown Bluegrass & Folk Concert returns to the Ritz Theater. The concert will feature another triple bill of well-loved bluegrass & folk bands from the northeast region of the United States. For five years, the Downtown Hawley Partnership has worked with Harmony Presents and The Ritz Company Playhouse to bring exciting bluegrass & folk bands to cap off the day of festivities at the Hawley Harvest Hoedown. This year, the organizations bring three show-stopping bluegrass influenced bands emceed by Chris Kearney of Hickory Project (previously of The Coal Town Rounders).

The lineup includes globally acclaimed Hickory Project, whose hard-driving traditional and original acoustic music is deeply rooted in bluegrass, yet unpredictably mixes Celtic, jazz, swing, Appalachian and blues with a rock-solid foundation.  The band is a powerhouse of musical prowess with the expert licks of National Mandolin Champion Anthony Hannigan, Jillian Hannigan, Ed Lick, and Chris Kearney.

Also, debuting in Hawley, PA is Serene Green, who is on a mission to preserve one of America’s greatest traditions, with a vibrant sound emphasizing instrumental prowess, soaring three-part harmonies, and original songwriting. Their sound comes from a position of respect and gratitude for bluegrass pioneers—such as Bill Monroe, Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs—but Serene Green performances are anything but an imitation.

Completing this solid triple bill is Man About A Horse, whose music reflects the wide range of influences on this Philadelphia-based band, from blues and rock to classical and pop, all blended together by a traditional bluegrass lineup. Man About a Horse’s first full-length album debuted at #11 on the Billboard Bluegrass Chart in 2017, earning praise from Bluegrass Unlimited, British Bluegrass News, and others. The band notched its first position on the Bluegrass Today radio chart in 2018. They’ve performed at festivals and in venues around the U.S., sharing the stage with Old Crow Medicine Show, Cabinet, Danny Barnes, Hot Buttered Rum, Wood & Wire, Donna the Buffalo, and many more. In August 2018, Man About a Horse was nominated for a Band Momentum Award by the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA).

Jill Carletti, organizer of the Hawley Harvest Hoedown Bluegrass Concert exclaims, “We’re thrilled to have these three very complimentary bluegrass and folk bands conclude this fun-filled fall harvest festival. The combination of all three of these consummate musicians will definitely put Hawley in a state of folk and bluegrass bliss! We hope to see the local area’s support of the Ritz Theater, Harmony Presents, Downtown Hawley and these phenomenal bands on Oct 13th!”

Tickets are $18, $22 and $25 depending on the location of seats selected. Tickets may also be purchased in person at Doodles & Main on 121 Main Ave. in Hawley, PA during their business hours.

Doors will open at 6:30pm and the show begins at 7:30 pm.  VIP tickets and Concert Sponsorship opportunities are also available via a form on the ticketing page.

Cocoon Coffee House will cater wine, beer, coffee and snacks on site at The Ritz Theater during the show.
