Crashes on 191 Near Mary Ann’s

July 21, 2010 by Pocono Talk Leave a Comment

On my way home the other day I saw a few police officers on the side of the road near Mary Ann’s Dairy Bar.  There was a car that looked like it crossed over the double line and landed on the grass on the Mary Ann’s side of the road.

Big deal? No…but having moved up to Henryville about 5 years ago I can’t count the number of times there have been accidents in that location.

The most memorable is happened a few years back when 2 teenagers were killed when they crashed into the big bolder right across from the dairy bar:

So then there was the accident yesterday(or just someone skidding off the road)

Then there was this today:

A few weeks ago someone actually crashed into the dairy bar itself:

Is anyone else noticing a pattern?  That stretch of road is very tempting for speeding, especially now that Penn Hills has gone to heck.  Mary Ann’s is the only business on that stretch and there is a very dangerous curve right before/after it.  If you’re heading from the Mount Pocono direction you are on a long stretch of road with a few passing zones and past the tunnel right before the Mary Ann’s turn.  Between speeding and an almost blind curve which directly across from it has people pulling out of it at slow speeds it’s a recipe for disaster.

Please take caution on this and all roads in the Poconos – it’s tempting open road, at the same time between the winding roads and plenty of deer and other obstacles it can often be treacherous or even deadly.
