On Saturday, January 3rd at 8pm, Harmony Presents will showcase a jazz, funk, and improvisation group, The Dirk Quinn Band in Hawley, PA. “Fleet-fingered Philadelphia-based guitarist Dirk Quinn could easily be mistaken for the son of legendary rock guitarist, Jeff Beck. However, Dirk’s fiery electric work is firmly rooted in jazz and, in the context of this four-piece band, it’s allayed with insistent, funky grooves to create a brilliantly lava-laden form of electric fusion. The band is a well-tuned improvisational machine. They make this music seem effortless, though it requires an incredible amount of skill. The Dirk Quinn Band exhibits the guitar “pyrotechnics” of Keller Williams and Michael Hedges and the honest, urban funk of Soulive to the brave experimentation of Medeski, Martin and Wood. This is a show for jam band lovers, jazz aficionados and simply anyone who likes to feel a great groove.
