Bluegrass-fusion duo phenoms burst into Hawley, PA this Sat

On Saturday, Aug 20 at 8pm, Harmony Presents showcases Bluegrass-Fusion duo, Hank and Pattie of Hank, Pattie and the Current, in the underground theater of the Hawley Silk Mill. “Hank & Pattie is a duo from Raleigh, NC making some waves through the southeastern bluegrass music scene. Banjoist Hank Smith, known for his Béla Fleck and the Flecktones tribute band among other successful musical ventures, teamed up with fiddler Patty Hopkins-Kinlaw to explore their creative ideas while producing s a soulful evolution of American acoustic music weaving Bluegrass into the tapestry of jazz, blues, and classical styles, “ says Jill Carletti, Managing Director of Harmony Presents. She continues, “The duo makes use of traditional bluegrass instrumentation in a nontraditional way to play original music that goes beyond the limits of the idiom. The arrangements take on a new level of maturation that follows in the footsteps of Bela Fleck, Mark O’Connor, Chris Thile, Sam Bush, Edgar Meyer, and Tony Rice. Hank & Pattie want to pick up where seminal crossover groups like Punch Brothers, Strength In Numbers, and the ever changing Bluegrass Allstars call home. The music is vocal and instrumental, allowing the duo to experiment with arrangements and tailor the compositions to become vehicles for exploration.”

The underground theater of the Hawley Silk Mill is located at 8 Silk Mill Drive in Hawley, PA.  Seating is first come, first seated and the theater is set up like a small cabaret theater or club, with candlelit tables and a waterfall overlook. Advance tickets at $17 are available up until midnight before the show. After this, tickets are available at the General Admission price of $20 until sold-out.
