Unseasonably hot, Pocono 500, Gas $3.99

June 9, 2008 by Pocono Talk Leave a Comment

Unseasonably hot Just as we were settling into delightful spring weather we were slapped with 94+ degree heat today and the same is to be expected for tomorrow.  If there's one thing that irks me about Pocono weather(although I'm sure its not uncommon in other areas of the country) is the ocassional drastic changes in the weather.  It never fails that each spring as you … [Read more...]

2008 Gas prices in the Poconos

May 20, 2008 by Pocono Talk Leave a Comment

But first a quick weather update - it had been beautiful the past couple of weeks hovering in the high 70s, this week though, and supposedly for the next few days, its been getting down into the low 40s with pretty much full time rain.  The silver lining is that this weekend looks to be clear and sunny getting up to about 80 so rest assured the dreary weather will pass … [Read more...]

Ew!  That's the one word comes to mind when I think of the possibility of another year with Gypsy Moths.  They come in cycles and since this is the third year in a row that they're out, that gives at least some hope that relief may be in sight as they should disappear again for a few years after this cycle.  Now I'm no bug expert so its possible that it will be a mild year … [Read more...]

American Red Cross of Monroe County Telethon

April 23, 2008 by Pocono Talk Leave a Comment

This past Sunday was the annual American Red Cross of Monroe County Telethon which ran from 12pm to 9pm on Blue Ridge Cable Channel 13.  I'm ashamed to say but this is the first year I actually saw it aired and hope that we can spread the word so the viewers and donations can improve each year.  The telethon raised over $57,000 all of which goes to the Monroe County Red … [Read more...]

It almost feels like spring…

April 10, 2008 by Pocono Talk Leave a Comment

Getting your hopes up that spring has finally arrived in the Poconos can be a really depressing idea once you realize that there are always a few late storms to endure before the warmer weather officially hits.  There's usually a series of warmer days, maybe 1-2 at a time followed by the bitter weather, maybe an ice or snow storm that knocks you right back into the winter … [Read more...]
