We're barely out of summer but school is back in session and the fall weather days are already starting up. We've had snow as early as the beginning of October and winter always seems to creep up quicker and quicker each year. For skiing/snowboarding enthusiasts now is the time to lock in your season passes before the rates get hiked up for the season. If you already are … [Read more...]
Pocono Garlic Festival September 4th and 5th 2010
The Pocono Garlic Festival is this weekend at Shawnee - it runs on Saturday & Sunday September 4th and 5th from 10AM to 6PM. Every year we try to go but have never made it, something always comes up - this weekend is Labor Day so we're unable to make it again. Kids Parties in the Poconos
Searching around for a place to have a birthday party for my son in the Poconos I could find very little information or ideas so I've compiled a list of places I've looked into before to give you some ideas. Keep in mind each location is "your kid" dependent. Are they really active? Do they want to open presents in front of friends? Do you want to sing happy birthday? … [Read more...]
Crashes on 191 Near Mary Ann’s

There was a car that looked like it crossed over the double line and landed on the grass on the Mary Ann's side of the road. Big deal? Also, a new smoke free room opened today which is welcome news to those of us non-smokers who hate to come home smelling like a cigarette. Plus, I'm sure for those who stop by after work for a bit without wanting the spouse to know can get away with it a bit easier now :) I'm … [Read more...]
Route 715 Paved….What?!
It's a day I never thought I'd see...they actually paved 715. If you're a local you know that road is one of the windiest, bumpiest, most accident ridden roads in all of the Poconos. This past fall they started "work" which consisted of adding new grates on the side of the road. Well, whether winter came quick or they just ran out of time there were GIGANTIC holes left … [Read more...]
Where To Get Silly Bandz In The Poconos
Alright, so for many this might not be "news worthy" to most but keep in mind this is a blog, not CNN :) The "craze" of the middleschoolers right now is these simple plastic wrist bands called "silly bandz". When my kindergartner came home and told me that he really wanted them a few months ago my response was "hunh?". He told me "we can get them at CVS mom". So on our next … [Read more...]
